Eye Diseases
Three of the more common eye diseases are:
- Glaucoma
- Cataracts
- AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration)
To read more about these diseases click on the document below.
However there are many other conditions affecting your eyes and vision which we routinely screen for during a comprehensive eye examination.
Systemic health problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetic changes and neurological diseases can also be detected.
Specialist
We also specialise in assessing the visual anomalies that effect patients who suffer from learning problems(including dyslexia), coordination problems (including dyspraxia), and other behavioural problems (including ADD and autistic spectrum). We are able to identify any associated visual problems through Visual Assessments and provide specific treatment through Vision Therapy.
(Please click the Behavioural Optometry Section on the main menu to read more)
Children
Eye examinations for children are free and appointments are essential from an early age in order to detect any developmental problems which can be harder to correct at a later stage. Click on the Children‘s section on the menu for more information about children’s eye care at Keith Murphy Opticians.
NHS Patients
We also welcome NHS patients and you may find that you are eligible for free eye tests and help with the cost of spectacles or lenses. Click on the NHS menu title to find out whether you are eligible and what to do if you are.
