Individual Lens Technology

In order to offer a bespoke service both in terms of frame design and lens format we can now offer a range of lenses that are made individually for you.

Normal lens designs are based on a series of standardised measurements that are then used along with your individual prescription and pupil centre measurement to produce your lenses.

This means that if the frame you choose or your individual dimensions are different to these standardised parameters, then the lens produced will not give you optimum vision. This will typically result in off axis distortion (i.e. when you look away from the centre of the lens you will get distortion).

This may mean that your peripheral vision will be compromised. With progressive lenses (“Varifocal”) this may result in a poor field of view for one or all distances (i.e. distance, intermediate and reading).

We are now able to offer new pioneering lens technology that enables individual lens design to happen. Our qualified dispensing opticians will take a whole series of measurements from you and the frame that you choose, the frame will be sent to the laboratory to produce a lens designed to optimise your vision.

This technology is particularly useful for sports people where peripheral vision is vital for good performance.
